I just love love love love this photo of my nephew and brother-in-law.

My sister and her family are about to head off to live in New Brunswick, Canada - hence the accumulation of all things Aussie - including the pictured Akubra. She's also started a blog called Snowballs and Lamingtons which I'm looking forward to reading.  Not looking forward to them leaving though. *sigh*

A Creative Christmas

I'm trying to do some cute creative crafty things for Christmas.  This is my first one for the holiday season - a little Christmas tree pin to wear to work!  Inspired from one of my favourite crafty blogs - The Purl Bee!

...It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! :)

Inspired by Bakerella's Turkey Cake Pops, I decided to make some to bring to my friend's house for Thanksgiving for her kids to eat for dessert!!

An interactive world on your wall...

Featured on one of my favourite flipboard sites 'babyology' is the "interactive world globe" by Jennifer Talbot.  As an Occupational Therapist (and an Aunty of one with a few more on the way...) looking at this from a child developmental point of view, I love the visual and tactile stimulation that it provides!!

Guess I had better put in my Christmas order for my already very smart little nephew...!

Have you seen the latest illustration from Ros over at Pink Blossom Tree?  I am in love with her latest -  magnolia tree *hearts*

I *heart* cookbooks

While I think the days of the ole "day-to-day cookery book" are not completely gone, I now find myself pouring over cookbooks with amazing recipes and equally incredible food photography.  Some of my favourite include the Jamie Oliver cookbooks - just looking at those pictures truly inspire me to bake my heart out!

My latest cookbook that I am loving is "The Newlywed Kitchen" (pictured above) by Lorna Yee and Ali Basye.  My favourite food blog (found by Amy - thanks!) Tartelette recommended this cookbook, and tried one of the recipes that turned out perfectly and looked absolutely irresistible!
In this book, they have a wonderful, eclectic collection of recipes for the couple who enjoy cooking together!  My husband and I are always looking for ways to spend quality time together, and we are thoroughly enjoying this new outlet!

Did you have a favourite toy as a child?

 

I was searching through flickr, and discovered this absolutely irresistible photograph taken by the amazingly talented photographer Narinuk, who was able to capture the perfect moment of a child cuddling her precious toy!

Can't you just imagine this lil guy being cuddled up?  Elijah the Elephant is VERY cute isn't he?  You can find the pattern here.  This has been added to my list of crafty things to make.

Loving l'uccello

In Melbourne, Australia, located a few blocks from the Yarra River is this incredible vintage haberdashery and homewares store called l'ucello.  They have an amazing blog showcasing all their irresistible finds and creations one could pour over for hours. 

I am completely drawn to this 'Vintage Sewing Collection' shown in their 'Kokeshi Crush' post.

Even their vintage ribbon is beautifully presented in this lovely collection of 'mint, unused' measuring tapes, threads, French fabrics and buttons.  

Be sure to discover all the irresistible offerings l'uccello have to offer.  I'm sure you'll find it {as did I} a wonderful source for inspiration and "vintage-ie"-goodness!

One of my heart's desires...

On 'A Cup of Jo' today, she has featured "EmersonMade clothing".

This picture completely and utterly captures where I want to be living (beautiful country setting), what I'd love to be doing (be outdoors, have my own chooks to collect eggs from, pick fresh veggies from my own veggie garden) on my mornings/afternoon after work, and enjoy the surroundings on the weekend.  Sit out on a porch with a cuppa tea, have lovely family dinners outside... *ahhh* Completely and utterly irresistible!

For the love of Chalk!

I was happily drooling/flicking through the latest and lovely Anthropologie booklet last night, and then today on poppytalk (one of my daily reads) I saw these pictures.  Which lead me to another post on the blog about a Chalkboard Thought Bubbles:

I love this creative idea to use as a message board for around the house, or perhaps to write up a cute little menu for an outdoor dinner party.  The options are endless!  Definitely on my wish list!

Happy Father's Day!

It's Father's day here in America today!  I found this on one of my favourite blogs this morning, "Daddy-O" by Anna Raff.  Such a cute portrayal of a father-son moment!  Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Brisbane - Brooklyn - One Photo - Each Day

I discovered 9626 Deventures today. It's a blog where cousins Anna and Anoushka, who live on opposite sides of the world (i.e. Brisbane and Brooklyn), each day post photos on an agreed topic. For example the topic for the photos above was 'Feet'. They describe their blog as: Brisbane - Brooklyn - One Photo - Each Day.

There are obvious parallels between our 365 days project and what Anna and Anoushka are doing, firstly they are in the US and Australia (like us) and secondly they aim to take a photo everyday (like us). However, I love their concept of setting a topic for the day and then interpreting it into photography. I'll definitely be checking in often to see what's new.
